Omissions

• The 14 million figure measures RESIDENCE (living) in another Member State, not the combined 'live or work' population. The number of EU citizens who actually work in another Member State is lower: Destatis reports 7.3 million EU citizens aged 15 and over worked in another EU country in 2025.
• The Eurostat figure is a rounded value (14 million); the more precise figure was 13.7 million in 2021, and the current edition reports '14 million' as of 1 January 2025.
• The source data refers to 1 January 2025, i.e. before the session date of 15 September 2026, so it was available to the MEP.
