The 4.1 million figure is a World Health Organization projection for 2030, not a European Commission figure as the MEP states.
The European Commission's own estimate (Health at a Glance: Europe 2024, with the OECD) is about 1.2 million doctors, nurses and midwives as of 2022 — a much smaller and earlier figure than the WHO's 2030 projection.
The MEP compares a forward-looking 2030 projection (4.1 million) with the Commission's current estimate, which inflates the apparent severity of the Commission's own data.
