Approximately EUR 100 billion is paid from the EU budget every year for climate policy.

Omissions

• The claim omits that the 30% climate spending target applies to the entire 2021-2027 MFF period, not annual spending. The 2024 figure of EUR 61 billion is substantially lower than the EUR 100 billion claimed.
• The EUR 100 billion figure may be conflated with international climate finance commitments (USD 100 billion per year by developed countries globally, not EU budget spending).
• The European Commission's 2024 fact check shows actual climate spending was EUR 61 billion, significantly below the claimed EUR 100 billion.
