• The figure 80% may reflect a different metric (final energy consumption vs primary energy) or rounded earlier data; the 85.8% figure from SEAI represents primary energy requirement for 2022/2023
• The MEP could not have known 2024 CSO data at time of speech (published March 2025)
• Renewable energy share has increased significantly, reducing fossil fuel dependence from the 85.8% peak in recent years
