July and August 2026 were the deadliest months for Ukrainian civilians since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

Omissions

• The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine states July 2026 was the deadliest month since May 2022 (and, for combined killed and injured, since March 2022) — not since the start of the war; the war's early months (March–May 2022) recorded higher civilian death tolls.
• August 2026 (372 killed, 2,349 injured) was actually less deadly than July 2026 and was only the second-highest monthly figure of 2026, so August does not qualify as one of the deadliest months of the war even on a 2026 comparison.
• OHCHR figures are confirmed minimums; actual casualty numbers are higher, but this does not change the ranking relative to the 2022 peak months.
• The OHCHR July 2026 report was published in August 2026 and the August 2026 report in September 2026; the MEP's session was 2026-09-16, so the August data may only just have been available.
