Sixteen EU member states have stalled projects totalling 120 gigawatt-hours in grid connection queues.

- The figure of 120 refers to GIGAWATTS (GW), a measure of power capacity, not gigawatt-hours (GWh), which is a measure of energy. The MEP's statement used the wrong unit ('gigawattora'/GWh).
- The 120 GW is not the total volume of projects in grid queues; it is a specific subset — mature renewable projects at risk of not obtaining timely grid access by 2030. The total volume of renewables stuck in connection queues across the 16 countries is far larger (E3G cites around 1,700 GW), so describing the queues as 'only' 120 GWh/120 GW understates the overall backlog.
- The primary source (European Commission 'European Grids Package' page) is dated to mid-2026, which is consistent with the session date of 2026-10-07, so the MEP could have known this figure.
