The actual ranking is: 1. China (~93 million tonnes), 2. United States (~47.5 million tonnes), 3. Brazil (~30.4 million tonnes), 4. EU (significantly less than Brazil).

Omissions

• The MEP could not have known post-2026 sources, but the 2024 FAO data and Wikipedia statistics were available before the session date and clearly show the US ranking second, not the EU.
• The claim incorrectly positions the EU ahead of the United States when the US produces substantially more meat.
