• The MEP understated the actual number of EU trade agreements by approximately 4 agreements.
• The European Commission reports 44 agreements covering 76 preferential trade partners, not 'nearly 40'.
• The claim was made on 2026-02-09; the data from November 2025 would have been available to the MEP.
