Turkey has received more than 10 billion euros in EU funds since 2000.

Omissions

• The MEP understates the true magnitude: total EU funds allocated to Turkey since 2000 are far higher than the 10 billion euro floor cited. Nordic Monitor (October 2025) reports more than 24 billion euros in grants and humanitarian aid allocated since 2002 alone.
• The European Court of Auditors figure of 'over 9 billion euros' for IPA 2007–2020 refers to planned assistance, not necessarily actual disbursements. However, even disbursed amounts combined with pre-2007 funds, post-2020 IPA III allocations, and the 6-billion-euro Facility for Refugees easily surpass the 10-billion-euro threshold.
• No single official source was found that aggregates every EU funding stream to Turkey since 2000 into one total figure. The conclusion is reached by triangulating the ECA IPA data, the Facility for Refugees, and pre-2007 pre-accession instruments.
