A private jet emits between 5 and 40 times more CO2 than a commercial flight.

Omissions

• The specific multiplier varies significantly based on: (1) aircraft type - light jets have higher per-passenger emissions than heavy jets; (2) occupancy - private jets often fly with only 1-4 passengers vs 100-300 on commercial flights; (3) flight distance - short flights have disproportionately higher emissions per km due to takeoff/climb phases. Some studies cite figures up to 500 times more for frequent private jet users on an annual basis. The ICCT 2023 report provides detailed data but uses 2023 data which was available before the claim date.
