The claim as normalised covers only the temperature-ranking element. The original speech also asserted that 'Europe is the fastest warming continent' (supported by the Copernicus European State of the Climate reports, which describe Europe as the fastest-warming continent) and that 'current national pledges still point to well over two degrees of warming' (consistent with UNEP Emissions Gap Report estimates of ~2.6°C for current NDCs), but these are separate factual claims not covered by this verification.
Rankings depend marginally on the dataset used: Copernicus/ERA5 and WMO's consolidated multi-dataset analysis both place the most recent ten years as the ten warmest, but individual year rankings (e.g. whether 2025 was second or third warmest) differ between datasets; this does not affect the claim's core assertion.
The claim is a cumulative statement about a rolling ten-year window and will remain true only as long as no pre-2016 year re-enters the top ten; this is currently the case in all major datasets.
