The most recent official data available (Terna, December 2025) shows 57.1 GW, not 60 GW — a difference of approximately 2.9 GW or 4.8%. However, the claim was made in June 2026, and with Italy adding roughly 7 GW of renewable capacity per year, the figure may have been closer to 60 GW by mid-2026.
The claimed cumulative investment of 70 billion euros could not be verified. No primary or secondary source was found that tallies Italy's total wind and solar investment over the last twenty years at that figure.
