Several media outlets reporting 'over 6,000 missing' (Hindustan Times, The Hindu, NDTV, Business Standard) appear to draw on the same wire-service reporting, so their apparent agreement may not reflect fully independent data.
The 6,000 figure may conflate missing persons in Nepal with those in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China (about 519), or include persons 'out of contact' rather than confirmed missing.
