The claim does not specify a period. REN's most recent full-year data (2025) puts renewables at about 68% of national electricity consumption, i.e. below the claimed 'more than 70%', whereas the 2024 record year was 71%.
REN's 'share of national consumption' is not identical to Eurostat's 'share of gross electricity consumption', which applies normalisation to hydro and wind and generally yields different (often lower) values for Portugal.
The 2024 figure of 71% and the 2025 figure of ~68% are official TSO data published in January 2025 and January 2026 respectively; the claim reflects the more favourable (record) 2024 year rather than the latest available period.
No 2026 full-year data existed at the session date; only rolling/partial figures were available.
