The EU had NOT eliminated tariffs on American industrial goods as of 15 June 2026. The regulation eliminating those tariffs was only finally approved by the Council on 25 June 2026 and entered into force on 1 July 2026.

The verb tense ('Nous avons supprimé' — 'We have eliminated') asserts a completed action that had not in fact occurred at the time of the speech.

Omissions

• The MEP presented the tariff elimination as already completed, omitting that the EU legislative process was still ongoing and the tariffs remained in effect on the date of the speech.
