Omissions

• The 10% figure is an approximation derived from comparing roughly 1,700 contracted emergency accommodation beds on Gardiner Street (a capacity measure) against the 16,734 people in emergency accommodation recorded nationally (December 2025, Department of Housing data); beds contracted are not strictly identical to people residing there.
• The figure originates from an RTÉ Prime Time investigation published on 2026-02-12, before the session date, so the MEP could have known it directly.
• An earlier Irish Times editorial (December 2023) put the equivalent share at about 1,170 of 13,179 homeless people (≈8.9%), reflecting that the proportion grew with the recent rise in homelessness; the more recent 2025/2026 data supports the ~10% figure.
