• The most recent source (France24, 22 September 2025, before the session) frames it as 'more than one million' abroad versus 2.4 million remaining at home, which is slightly under a strict one-in-three ratio (~29–30%) if only 1 million is counted.
• Figures derive from IOM, UN DESA and Moldovan authorities (MFAEI), not from a single census; no single primary statistic fixes the ratio at exactly 1 in 3.
